Paul is one of the two owners here at Van's, the other one is his brother Jim. Paul typically handles most of the business aspects of Van's. He takes on the big projects like inventory control management, integration of Sales & Service, inventory records, and the ordering of all HD parts & accessories. If it sounds like Paul might know a lot it's because he does. I bet if you describe a part to Paul as, "that little thing that goes on my FXR underneath the other thing" he'll know exactly what you are talking about, and he'll know the part number as well! Paul still keeps up to date on everything by participating in both the PHD tests and the PACE tests.

But don't think Paul is all work though. He still finds time to ride his anniversary '02 FLHTCU-I. He rode well over 10,000 miles last year. He is usually out riding with his wife Sally on the back, and his three kids - John, Amy and Chris, trailing behind him (and yes they do all own a Harley)

Paul started out helping his father as a mechanic in 1956, and when he wasn't doing that he was out racing bikes. He did all kinds of races - motorcross, hair scrambles, trials, road race etc.. As the years passed, he became a top notch racer (holding the #1 plate a few times), and a top mechanic. He had a lot of formal training from HD at their mechanic institute (similar to today's PHD program) he graduated as a certified HD mechanic in April of 1964. He continued working at his father's business and through in some US Coast Guard Service as well. In 1975 the business was turned over to him and his brother Jim.

This year is Van's 54th year in business! Come on in and congratulate them and meet the crew!
